This version of Salomon's X-Wing 8 is exactly the same as the standard model, except for the bindings and for the fact that this model comes in shorter sizes. This X-Wing 8 lineup was produced for rental ski fleets, so it has an R in the title, as well as a barcode in the center of the ski that would've been used by a rental shop. The bindings included are LZ9 bindings, which are very similar but slightly lighterweight than the L10 bindings on their non-rental counterparts, due to having a lighter spring (and therefore lower DIN range). This ski is a great all-mountain ski for Eastern North America, and a fast trail carver for out West. If you're looking at these and the Salomon H X-Wing 8 and can't decide between the two, Level9 will make the decision for you: If you're over 175lbs, get the other one (with the heavier binding), if you're 175 or under, save yourself some bucks and go for this one!
